Who we are
DealSwiper is a UK-focused deal-sharing community. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of DealSwiper. For data-protection questions, contact us at privacy@dealswiper.co.uk.
What we collect
- Account data: email, username, and a hashed password. Optional fields: bio, avatar URL.
- Activity data: deals you post, votes you cast, comments you write, and reports you submit.
- Technical data: IP address and user-agent, used for abuse prevention and rate limiting.
- Analytics: aggregated, cookieless page-view metrics (if and when enabled).
How we use your data
- To operate the service: showing you deals, letting you vote and comment, sending you email confirmations or password resets.
- To keep the site safe: moderation, spam prevention, rate limiting.
- To improve the product: understanding which pages are useful, fixing bugs.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
- Access: you can request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: you can update your username, bio, and avatar in your account settings.
- Deletion: you can delete your account from account settings; this removes your profile, comments, votes, and reports. Deals you posted remain but become attributed to a deleted user.
- Portability / objection / complaint: contact us, and you have the right to complain to the ICO.
Data sharing
We don't sell your data. We share data only with the infrastructure providers that run DealSwiper (hosting, database, email, error monitoring, analytics) under their standard data-processing terms.
Affiliate links
When you click a "Get deal" link we redirect you to the retailer. The retailer may receive a referral identifier in the URL; what they collect after that is governed by their own privacy policy.
Retention
We keep account and activity data while your account is active and for a short period after deletion to resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.
